Virtual Athletic Training - eCare
Wednesday, March 11, 2020
As you know, there are risks to participation in activities. In response to this need Wolsey-Wessington School District has chosen to partner with eCARE in Sioux Falls, S.D., for a pilot Virtual Athletic Training program. The Virtual Athletic Training program will offer virtual visits with a certified athletic trainer via a two-way video/audio technology. The athletic trainer is based in Sioux Falls and will assist school staff in the evaluation and treatment of injuries that occur during activities. This service will be available M-F from 1:00-9:00 pm.
The interaction between the athletic trainer and the student will be very similar to having an athletic trainer providing care on-site. With the assistance of school staff, the athletic trainer will visit with and assess the health needs of your child. If further care or treatment is needed, the athletic trainer will notify the parent/guardian of the outcome and together will decide the best options for the student. Parent/Guardians are encouraged to be present for the virtual call if available.
The school district will provide this service to all students participating in activities free of charge, with the goal to appropriately manage injuries when they occur.
